As the 2014 Brazil World Cup approaches, the walls of that country are speaking for many who say “Nao vai ter Copa,” or “There will be no World Cup.” At least not one without the protest of thousands who disagree with FIFA and the Brazilian government spending billions on new stadiums while millions continue to live without their basic needs met.
These pieces of art are a powerful reminder to us all that there is a whole other world, and other type of cup, at play in Brazil that doesn’t involve a ball and gold trophy. And it’s definitely the one playing out in the favelas that matters most!
